A few answers before you decide

What will this service cost?

£99 for one board or £149 for two, including up to ten circuits. Extra circuits are £10 each. Three or more boards and non-standard work need a quotation.

How often is a rental EICR needed in England?

For tenancies covered by the electrical safety regulations, the interval is no more than five years, or sooner if the report requires it. Read the findings and due date rather than relying only on the issue date.

When will the assessment be ready?

The time needed depends on the service, property and available evidence. Ask for the visit and report arrangements before relying on a particular completion date.

Official guidance: check the relevant requirements. Reviewed 8 November 2026.

Understand the property

The electrician inspects and tests the agreed fixed installation. Portable appliance checks are a separate service.

What the work involves

Tell the team how many consumer units or boards there are and the estimated circuit count. Mention extensions, outbuildings and shared supplies.

Plan the arrangements

The report records observations and the outcome. If defects or further investigation are identified, discuss the next steps and a separate quotation for remedial work.

Keep the next step clear

An inspection does not guarantee a satisfactory result. Keep the report with any subsequent repair and testing records.
